Special Meeting of January 7, 2013
South Hero Town Hall, Monday 7:00 PM
Board Present: Chris Herrick, Jonathan Shaw, Sarah Jacoby, Skip Brown (also Board Secretary), Anne Zolotas
Others Present: Sharon Roy, Town Clerk. Don Smallwood, Administrative Assistant. Also see sign in sheet.
1. Called to Order:
-The meeting was called to order by Chris Herrick at 7:02 pm.
–Anne Zolotas made a motion to accept the Minutes of December 18, 2012 as written, seconded by Jonathan Shaw. The motion carried.
3. Public input:
A. Several members of the ZBA and PC were present to discuss a letter from Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation, Watershed Management Division, regarding Keeler Bay Associates, LLC (campground) dock application. Sarah Jacoby made a motion to have Todd Cox and Don Smallwood draft a letter pointing out some concerns of the Townâ€™s boards, seconded by Jonathan Shaw. The letter will be reviewed at the January 14 Selectboard meeting and will be mailed before the January 22, 2013 deadline. The motion carried.
4. New Business:
A. Anne Zolotas made a motion to have the Town buy a pager for the Emergency Management Director, currently Sarah Jacoby, seconded by Jonathan Shaw. The motion carried.
5. Old Business:
A. South Street update: Right of Way plans are being completed by the consulting engineers.
B. George Rice was present to discuss a letter sent to the Selectboard from the zoning applicant, Junk and Disorderly. The Selectboard feels that all Town board members represent the town in a customer service capacity. Mr. Rice confirmed that he sometimes speaks loudly when he gets excited, and that he may have upset the applicant.
C. Correspondence regarding the â€œnuisanceâ€ dog hearing was reviewed and discussed. The hearing will reconvene on January 14, 2013.
D. Anne Zolotas advised the Board on the insulation job done under the Listerâ€™s offices.
6. Administrative Assistant Report:
A. A written report was submitted.
B. The upcoming ZBA hearing regarding the Richardson application on Sunrise Drive has been adjourned again until January 9, 2013.
7. Other Business:
A. A letter dated December 7, 2012 from David Carter to the Selectboard regarding a dog bite incident that occurred on July 3, 2012 will be forwarded to the Animal Control Officer for review.
– Anne Zolotas made a motion to adjourn at 9:12 pm, seconded by Skip Brown. The motion carried.
